| Restoring
an old boat, operation longer and more complex than we anticipated
means to use adze, plane, bevel-square, wood
chisels etc… and
many enigmas to solve.
No place for improvisation to work with this difficult material
wood. A poetical universe, first in the description of the species,
the places, where they grow, of dangerous trips to bring them
back.
Names like Angelica from Guyana,
Mahogany from Carribbean, great bassam, iroko
from Africa, teak
from Asia, spruce from North
America, pine-tree from Oregon, Hungarian
oak and our own, oak coming out of muddy banks, from Britanny’s rivers
Those that didn’t carve these marvellous species cannot
understand the fascination exerted by this noble and faithful
material.
